SHY LAYERS’ Enter at the Edges EP continues producer JD Walsh’s interest in mixing disparate musical references, genres, and sounds in unusual ways. While there is still a focus on skewed, polyrhythmic, left-field pop music, the sonic palette has expanded to include elements of country and folk. Manipulated vocals now sit alongside natural, unprocessed voices.

With this transparency comes a newfound focus on lyrical themes. Topics include meditations on one’s legacy (Visit My Tomb), longing and compromise (Hearts Unknown), and a prismatic self-portrait (Between Stations).
