Unweather

Methuselah is an interactive digital narrative by artist and experience designer Elle Bulger and the music that guides the journey comes from Will Robinson aka Unweather, from Manchester, UK. The story guides the reader-player through a series of vignettes taking place in the non-human world, exploring the often unseen connections, competitions, and collaborations between flora, fauna, landmasses, weather systems, and celestial bodies. It's also a celebration of the history of digital narratives, with influences ranging from dating simulators and text-based adventure games to classic JRPGs.

The Methuselah soundtrack is a wildly imaginative 8-bit electronic/ambient journey. The music is intended not only to be a backdrop to the artwork but an aesthetic, narrative, and conceptual response to it. Robinson produces a genuine emotional connection here as he blends the real with the fantasy. Unweather creates a bright magical world of wonder that pulls you in yet still feels attached to something tangible. Methuselah OST is a fascinating listen that stands on its own as an intriguing piece of music and a fascinating work of art. And Robinson showcases his knack for diving into a project and committing to the narrative completely.

The proper physical release of the Methuselah OST continues a productive 2021 for Robinson. He released the Materialise EP in May and a track ("Chaos As an Organising Principle") on A New Age for New Age, Vol. 4 compilation as well. The Materialise EP and its companion piece, an upcoming full-length entitled BODY MAGIC, together will introduce and summarise the past three years or so of the Unweather project. What will happen next remains to be seen...
